The Maspalomas swimming competition, known as Canaragua Maspalomas Open Water, takes place in the great Atlantic Ocean, in the south of the island of Gran Canaria. The lighthouse of Maspalomas, which is the meeting and starting point of the event, was declared as Asset of Cultural Interest in the category of Historic Monuments in 2005. It sets the scene for the competition and its height of 54.7 m makes it a reference point for everyone involved in the event.

The 6th edition of one of the biggest open water swimming events in the Canary Islands will take place on Saturday 16th September 2017.

The Maspalomas-Canaragua swimming competition offers 4 different distances, the longest being 27.100 meters, so that all participants, ranging from amateurs to challenging professionals, can take part in the event.
